Alameda County Water District
Bromate Control with Carbon Dioxide

With a research grant from the Bay-Delta Authority, WQTS worked with the Alameda County Water District to evaluate the use of carbon dioxide for reducing the formation of bromate upon ozonation of State Project Water. WQTS and District staffs evaluated two different engineered carbon dioxide feed systems, and quantified the impact of carbon dioxide dose on reduced ozone demand and bromate formation. The economics of the two engineered systems were analyzed and compared to that of a mineral acid feed system.
