Serrano Water District
Evaluation of the District's Water Treatment Plant
Performance & Regulatory Compliance

The Serrano Water District, located in Southern California, serves drinking water to 6,000 people in the City of Villa Park. The District owns and operates a 4-MGD conventional water treatment plant and three groundwater wells. In response to elevated levels of THMs in the distribution system, the District retained the services of WQTS to evaluate options for lowering the THM levels, as well as evaluate the overall performance of the water treatment plant. WQTS staff developed a revised THM monitoring plan, which was then submitted to the Department of Health Services (DHS) for approval, drafted a public notice in response to a violation of the enhanced coagulation requirements of the EPA regulations, and evaluated plant modification options that could improve the overall performance of the treatment plant.
